Old school rivalry is set to be rekindled at the Faleata Golf Course tomorrow where the Marist Sports Week continues with a Golf Tournament.

At 8am, old pupils representing local colleges will be down at the Faleata greens getting ready for a shotgun start.

Bringing golfers together for a good cause is the School of Origin Golf Tournament, spearheaded by Marist Brothers Old Pupils Association and members of the Very Manaia Golf School as part of the Marist Sports Week repertoire.

The President of the Very Manaia Golf School is Fanene Samau Sefo who expects a big turnout tomorrow morning.

“The competition is sure to be very tough and players are keen to re-kindle age-old rivalries among the competing colleges,” said Fanene.

Colleges expected to enter are: Samoa College, Chanel College, Avele College, St Mary’s College and of course St Joseph’s College.

All teams competing will have the chance to win prize money for their former schools totaling almost $4,000.

"Apart from the main prizes which will go to the top three colleges, there are also many excellent individual team prizes on offer. Kindly sponsored by S.S.A.B., these prizes include electronics, washing machines, office furniture and a host of other great prizes.”

Players registering will also be treated with a swag bag containing goodies, a golf towel, and other complimentary items.

The organising committee have also gone the distance to ensure a high quality experience for participants and are providing breakfast and BBQ lunch, with bottled water being generously donated by Tara Ice.

Following the tournament, a prize-giving function is scheduled for 6:30pm at the Marist Brothers Old Pupil’s Lounge at St Joseph’s College, Alafua.
