Clear waters, friendships and a relaxing time

Amy Te Whetu finds Samoa a friendly destination.

According to her, it is the right place to go for a family holiday.

She’s in Samoa with her husband, and her two sons, a four-year-old and seven-year-old.

Amy tells Dear Tourist her experience with the staff of the Taumeasina Island Resort.

“It’s their (staff) friendly culture that makes it easy for us to make friends with them,” she said.

It’s their first time in Samoa and compared to their previous Pacific Island destination, Rarotonga, Samoa offers more sights.

“Here it is much bigger compared to Rarotonga. It seems to be more established maybe because there are more people here. There’s not much to see at Rarotonga compared to here,” she said.

However, they’ve enjoyed Rarotonga but Amy finds Samoa much nicer because she loves an island with a little of modern culture.

“For example in Samoa there’s a movie theatre. The people have been so beautiful, just friendly and helpful and the kids love them,” she explained.

“I have to say I met nicer people here then Rarotonga. We interacted a lot more with the people here, the staff and the tour guides.”

She also shared her impression of the people here.

“The service at the resort has been absolutely amazing,” she said.

“We do not have to think about it too much, everybody is helpful. Whoever you ask will serve you with kindness.”

“Especially the kids, they love the staff. They would laugh together with the staff.”

“They are just really wonderful people,” she said.

The family spent six days on the island and left on Wednesday for their homeland New Zealand.

But Samoa has left an everlasting impression on the family.

“The waterfalls and Piula Caves were really great.”

“That was just an amazing experience, I have never swam in a water so clear before. The water was just crystal clear. It was amazing, incredible,” she shared.

“We went snorkeling and swam with turtles as well. The kids really enjoyed that.”

“And the white sand everywhere, it is just heaven on earth,” she added.

They could have stayed in the resort because it offered all that they needed. But they opted to enjoy Samoa’s beauty.

“We were quite pleased to make this trip. It was absolutely worth it. We came just to relax,” she said.

“It would not have been a priority for us coming to Samoa to be honest.”

“We bought a house in New Zealand and we won a trip to Samoa. But I absolutely don’t regret coming here.”

Amy mentioned they have plans to return to Samoa for another family vacation.
