The bigger and better network has once again thrown its support behind the Youth Alive Dance competition.

For the seventh year in a row, Digicel has provided financial backing for the popular competition.

Yesterday, Digicel’s Head of Business Solutions, Leaupepetele Talai Jr. Lene presented $10,000 to Pastor Siagigi Va’afusuaga.

The Youth Alive started in 1999. The initiative targets the development of youth and addresses issues faced by young adults. These issues include: Violence, truancy, teen pregnancy, and even crime.

“We believe that this programme is the most effective way to shape the values, attitudes and attributes of young people,” Leaupepetele said. “It is also an opportunity for the youth to be creative and work on their craft and express themselves freely in the public eye. “We’ve seen that our Samoan youth are especially gifted in this area; we are happy to partner up with Samoa Youth Alive (S.Y.A) to create these opportunities to productively channel their energy and showcase their skills.”

According to Leaupepetele, Digicel prioritizes investment in youth programmes that benefit the country.

“S.Y.A appeals to Digicel because of its nature as a competition that fosters spiritual growth and cohesiveness amongst the youth and creates an atmosphere of harmony and optimism within the community,” Leaupepetele said.

“The youth are given a chance to express themselves and be involved, recognized and rewarded for something they’re interested and believe in.”

In receiving the cheque, Pastor Siagigi promised an awe-inspiring and exciting performance that vary from hip-hop, creative, traditional, contemporary and more, with a mindset of taking this year’s competition to the next level.
