Meet Tulua Samasoni and her daughter Senia Maiava of Vailele-uta.

They were walking on the Fagalii road delivering peanuts when the Village Voice met up with them.

According to Samasoni their delivery are made to stores and who wants to buy peanuts.

Ms. Samasoni told the Village Voice their faimly also owns a plantation and a vegetable garden.

Asked about the cost of living, Ms. Samasoni believes that there is nothing we can be done about it.

“I notice a lot of people complaining about the cost of living and yet they don’t work,” she said.

“To me, why waste time complaining when we should be focusing on building our family and ensuring that our children are attending school and have food to eat every day.

“Let’s look at it this way, no matter how much we complain the man who is running our country will never listen.

“He thinks this is good for Samoa so let us live with it, I mean it really doesn’t matter to me anymore all I worry about is making sure that my children goes to school every day and get a better future.”

She said it’s hard work but that is life.

“We sweat and bleed to get a better tomorrow.

“This is the reality and this is the challenge.” The mother of four says that she tells her children the reality of life.

“I told them if you don’t want to live this kind of life, then you make sure that you do well in school

“I brought my daughter with me to help me in delivering our peanuts it’s almost finish now we started from Vailele and now we are here at Fagalii and we will continue to some families and other shops around the area.”

The mother said the money she gets from her small business helps with her children’s education.

“For family obligations and church commitments” which acording to the mother is the  least of her  worries.

“If I have enough I will make my cotrobution.

“But if not I am not worried because my children are my first priority.

“I put  in all I can for my children’s education because I know this is the key to their future.

“I don’t want them to go through this kind of life I want them to be happy and live freely but that can only be made possible if they do well in school.”
