Ten families, whose stories and lives have featured in the Samoa Observer Village Voice series, received food items on Saturday from an anonymous Good Samaritan.

The Village Voice team was there to help give out the donations to the families and to witness their surprise, gratitude and joy for the unexpected support.

The families included, Ailini Toleafoa, Falelauniu; Sa’ena Sa’ena, Falelauniu; Etea’i Salimu, Faleula-Uta; Simone Lenate, Le’auva’a;  Magalogo Puele, Malie;  Joe Isa’ako, Malie; Lista Lista, Faleula-Uta; Elepa Aleki, Sale’imoa; Siaunofo Atiuta, Faleula-Uta and Lupe Mamapo of Malie.

Thirty-year-old father of six, Joe Isaako of Malie thanked the Good Samaritan for the food which included rice, corned beef and noodles.

“I wasn’t expecting someone would lend a helping hand to my family, but whoever donated this food for me and my family, may God continue to bless you all. Thanks for seeing how I am struggling to make end meets for my family every day.

The Village Voice caught up with him while he was planting cabbages at the side of the house.

“These are not for my family but we sell them to buy other food. As I’ve said before, the rice, corned beef, noodles and other food items you have brought here will go a long for us.”

Another Village Voice family is 40-year old mother, Elepa Aleki from Sale’imoa.

“I’m shocked and happy, because in this life I thought that no one cared about what other people ate. I thought all they cared about was their own children and themselves.

“But from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the Good Samaritan. God sees you. My family and children will be happy to have this corned beef for our Sunday to’ona’i tomorrow.

“This stuff (pointing at other food items) will help us survive over the next number of days. Thank you for remembering us.”

Magalogo Puele  from Malie agreed.

“What more can I say? I just want to thank God for the Good Samaritan and I’m happy to say that these things really help us.

“Not only for us but I will use them for my children’s school lunches. God bless whoever the Good Samaritian is.”
