A bus was driven into a river at a slippery ford at Tulaele on Monday evening.

An eyewitness told the Samoa Observer that the driver was on his way home after buying a bag of firewood when he lost control of the vehicle.

“The place that he (bus driver) went to buy firewood from is not far from where the incident occurred,” he said.

“On his way back, he lost control because the bridge was too slippery and the bus fell into the river."

“Lucky he didn’t get hurt, but he is still in shock.”

When the Samoa Observer arrived at the scene, more than five police officers were there and a tow truck was trying to get the bus out of the water.
