An eyewitness has told of a how a truck full of men turned up at Vaitele last Thursday night and attacked a Chinese business owner and his parents.

Tui Levi, who lives near the Country Shop’s construction site there, told the Samoa Observer he heard a lot of noises and so he ran to where it was coming from.

“I saw a truck coming in and then a lot of people rushed towards the site,” he said. “They were mostly Chinese and I’m not sure if there were any Samoans.

“I didn’t see who was driving the truck because usually a Samoan drives it but I couldn’t see him clearly that night.”

According to Mr. Levi, there were too many people to count that night.

“I’m not sure what they were throwing towards the building but it looked like rocks,” he said.

“This took place around the time the Filipino series normally comes on TV so it happened around 10pm. It went on for a very long time.”

“I could hear hard objects hitting the tin and lots of metal clashing noises.”

The incident led to an attack on Wilson Fang, the owner, of Country Shop, and his parents.

The incident occurred at the construction site near the Loto Taumafai School.

Mr. Levi said he couldn’t come in for a closer view because he did not want to get caught in the crossfire.

The Police are investigating.
