St. Joseph’s and Pesega top Zone B School Sevens

Five secondary Schools competed for the Zone B Schools 7s tournament earlier this week.

The tournament was a one day tournament which was held at the Saint Joseph’s College field in Alafua.

Church College of Pesega, Saint Joseph’s College, Faleata College, Maluafou College and Chanel College were among the Schools vying for the top prize of both the Under-16 division, as well as the Under-18 division.

According to a statement from the Samoa Rugby Union, the Zone B Schools 7s tournament is one of four School Zones 7s tournaments around Savaii and Upolu which act as a Qualification Round for schools vying to qualify for the Bluesky National Secondary Schools Sevens Championship to be held on Friday 2nd March 2018 at Apia Park Stadium.

St. Joseph’s College was the Zone B U18s Champions after finishing the Round Robin with an undefeated run throughout the tournament.

St. Joseph’s College will now be joined by the top four teams including runner up Maluafou College, third place Chanel College and fourth placing Church College of Pesega qualifying for the Bluesky National Secondary Schools Sevens Competition next week. 

Church College of Pesega claimed first prize in the Under-16 division, and is joined by Saint Joseph’s College and Maluafou College as the top three teams from Zone B Under-16 division for Bluesky Secondary Schools Sevens next week.

The Zone A Schools competition also took place earlier this week, with Aleipata College winning both Under-14 and Under-16, while Leiifiifi College tops Under-18 division.
