Church and money

Dear Editor,

The E.F.K.S church will always have problems with money, too much money. (Samoa Observer 22nd March 16).

After $10 millions that was in fixed deposits and now after loaning $15 millions, they still haven’t completed a $13 million project, the Iupeli.

Frankly it’s so depressing. The current general secretary does not seem to know what is going on.

The bulk is spent on the church’s institutional aims while the poor are getting poorer, the needy are getting desperate and people are getting lost right under the church’s noses as people struggle with the daily pull and pushes of an increasingly materialistic world.

The pulpits are so legalistic and judgmental as they try to conform and get people to eternity as a result of ‘good’ works.

The poor with little or nothing to give end up with guilty complexes and no understanding of God’s immense grace. (Dubbed by some as ‘cheap grace’. It’s free, not cheap)

Stop throwing good money after the bad. The E.F.K.S should call an enquiry about where all this money is going.
