Neil Donaldson from Newcastle, Australia, finds peace in Samoa.

The busy Australian needed a rest from his stressful life back at home and he found just that place in the islands.

Mr. Donaldson is traveling with his wife, Annette. The couple arrived on Saturday and will leave today.

“I am here with my wife she is in the spa having a treatment right now.”

“We came here for a rest, to do nothing, but to enjoy some time,” he shared with Dear Tourist. “Where I am working it is really busy at the moment, and the boss is pushing my holiday back. I am working in engineering.”

“We have really big projects. We are very busy, tight deadlines.”

They have never been to Samoa before, but 2 times to Vanuatu.

“We had an opportunity because our travel agent owed us some money from a mistake he made in our previous booking. The travel company recommended Samoa, so we came here.”

“It is beautiful and very relaxed. The people seem to be very friendly, the culture is interesting. We didn’t have a lot of time but in these five days, it was good to see the dancing show here in the resort. Yesterday we had a guide driving us a little bit around.”

“We ended up snorkeling at the Palolo deep. Probably the snorkeling was the highlight of my stay I would say. It is so colorful, you go swimming inside a cloud of little fishes, and they are all around you.”

“I really enjoyed just staying at the resort to relax as well,” Mr. Donaldson said.

“From what I have seen in this resort, this is a good standard one. It seems to be the only island resort around.”

“The climate is very good for just doing whatever you want; even when it rains it is warm.”

“I had good food here, mostly in the restaurant, not only local food. Here in the resort, it is a mixture of food.”

“The main meals seem to have a theme which could be local. One thing that is fantastic is the seafood. The fish at home is usually frozen or comes from overseas.”

“Here it is really fresh and still there are a lot of fish in the water. In Australia, the good fishing areas are mostly fished out. When you want to go fishing by yourself in Australia, you spend hours and do not catch anything.”

Mr. Donaldson is thinking of returning to Samoa and tasting more of the food.
