Education is critical for the future of Samoa.

Business Systems Limited (B.S.L.) believes this and does its best to support the education sector.

It is why it joined the University of the South Pacific’s (U.S.P.) Open Day, held recently as part of the University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Business Systems Limited’s Marketing and Sales manager, Nigel Stowers, spoke about their role in this year’s U.S.P.

“Our participation in the open day is a good way to promote our brand but also giving students an insight into what our businesses deals with,” Mr. Stowers said.

“In this case we are in the retail business, so some of them do ask questions like what it is like to work in retail.

“It is a career path and an opportunity to learn of options to choose in the future, like researching on courses they will take.

“We show our support by being here and continuously are in partnership with educational institutions in promoting education as the key to a successful future,” he said.

“It is not much of us being here to also showcase our products but most importantly showing who we are as business in Samoa through career opportunities. These students are actually searching for a career move and there is a whole scope of job opportunities out there and we offer that aspect of it as well.”

Mr. Stowers said the event was well organised.

“We also took part knowing the 50th celebration and 50 years itself is a milestone and long time in education. U.S.P. as far as education is concerned; they offer good quality education and with all that time of experiences speak for itself, he stated.

“A person that came out of this university and has on to higher positions and to celebrate that is a milestone itself. And anything like that, we want to be a part of it, and with our company celebrating our 41st year anniversary this year it also holds great significance to us too.

“It is also good to be associated with these education sectors and bearing in mind those schools and universities are our target markets. That is part of the reason why we want to get involved, not only providing stationaries but also support, through sponsorship.

“We are quite privileged to be here and celebrate the 50th anniversary of U.S.P.

“Most of the schools are familiar with the B.S.L. brand and it is fitting that we encourage students to create their own future,” he added.
