Manu Samoa Sevens player, Gordon Langkilde, was arrested on Monday after his alleged involvement in a fight in a tunnel at AT&T Park during the Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament in San Francisco.

This was confirmed by San Francisco Police yesterday.

The NBC Bay Area News reported that Langkilde was booked into San Francisco County Jail on charges of felony aggravated assault and felony battery causing serious bodily injury.

San Francisco Police told Wales Online that Langkilde remains in custody. He is accused of assaulting two Welsh rugby players, one of who is 22-year-old Tom Williams.

The 26-year-old Williams suffered facial injuries and a 21-year-old suffered broken facial bones, Police said.

A third victim, a 24-year-old from Wales also suffered facial injuries during the incident.

The fight took place at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday (U.S. time) in a tunnel between the playing field and the locker room.

NBC reported that Langkilde was arrested without incident at his San Francisco hotel at about 1:15 p.m. Monday (U.S. time).

World Rugby said it is investigating the incident, and Langkilde has been provisionally suspended from play until the investigation is complete.

The Samoa Rugby Union has expressed disappointment about what has taken place and have confirmed that they are providing support for Langkilde.
