If you’re into motorcycles, then you will love Apia Motorbikes and Scooters.

Owned and operated by 33-year-old Yimmy Tang, the new motorcycle dealer was established on June 18 this year to ease transportation burdens for the people of Samoa.

Located at the Valentines Complex in Fugalei, Mr. Yimmy invested his savings on his first business with some financial support from his parents, which amounted to more than $100,000 tala including accommodation.

“I also visited Fiji and Vanuatu to look for opportunities to establish my business, but when I came to Samoa I realised that Samoa would be the ideal place to start a business because many things would work out here,” Mr. Yimmy told the Business team.

“The motorcycles I sell are imported from Canton Province, China. For this first batch, I imported 32 motorcycles and so far two have been purchased already.

“This is my first order, I am trying to make a living here in Samoa because before that I did not have any experience in operating a business, I was a qualified motor mechanic who offered full repairs and service for all makes and models, from oil change to engine rebuild.”

He sells three ranges of motorcycles – on road, off road and scooters – with price ranging from $2,500 tala.

“They all come with two years/10,000 kilometers warranty and we stock spare parts for every single model we have and they are immediately available,” Mr. Yimmy said.

Mr. Yimmy, who plans to make Samoa his second home, hopes to offer repair services because he says it is the important part of his business.
