Afamasaga reappointed as Chief Executive

Afamasaga Dr. Karoline Afamasaga-Fuata’i has been reappointed the C.E.O. for the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture (M.E.S.C.) for the next three years following Cabinet’s approval this week.  

She was unanimously recommended by the selection panel to continue her second term in office. 

A teacher by profession, Afamasaga graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, GCOE from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. 

She continued her pursuit for excellence which was rewarded when she graduated from Cornell University in the United States with a Masters and PhD in Mathematics Education, majoring in Computer Science and minor in Curriculum Instruction. 

Afamasaga is also the founding Professor of mathematics and mathematics education at the National University of Samoa and served as an Associate Professor at the University of New England, Australia.

Afamasaga has taught in all levels of education from primary up to the level of professor at university. 

Afamasaga is driven by her aspiration to make a difference in learning outcomes and achievements in schools starting from primary level all the way up to tertiary education.
