It was a double celebration for Jadyn Patrilita Petimara Ualesi during the weekend.

The young author launched her third book “Fear to live” and celebrated her birthday at the Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi Building.

Friends and families were present to witness and celebrate the achievements of Jadyn. It was an even more special night for her with her 80-year-old grandmother also joining in the celebration.

“I am overwhelmed; this could be the most memorable event that ever happened in my life,” she said.

Jadyn is the eldest child of Silia Kilepoa Ualesi and Tauiliili Junior Ualesi from the villages of Tufuiopa, Lepea, Tafitoala, Safotu and Sataua. Her first book launched in 2015 was “Fear to love”, and “Fear to lose” followed in 2016.

This time, “Fear to live” is dedicated to Theresa Atkins, her best friend’s mother, who passed away last year.

“Theresa Atkins was like a second mother to me, she raised me for 13 years. She supported me every step of the way, when I was struggling, she was there to help me,” Jadyn shared.

“Her passing shocked me last year, and I am happy to dedicate this night to her and she inspired me very much.

“When my mum was not there because she used to travel a lot, Theresa was there.”

Speaking to the Sunday Samoan, Jadyn shared it took her eight months to explore the world and before writing her third book.

Asked to give an insight to what the book is about, she said: “Well you know relationships in this generation, a guy uses a girl or a girl uses a boy for money or just to get over love or things like that.

“So in my book it explains how and why a guy does things to protect the girl that he loves. I hope it will inspire people.”

She mentioned that “Fear to live” is different from her two previous books.

“In the previous books, I think the last book that was just launched, I find it more interesting than the first and second one because it has a happy ending and it gives out love. The girl and the guy end up together,” she said.

According to the young author, the driving force behind her career is herself, growing up as an introvert girl was not easy and through writing, it broke down those barriers for her.

“It is like a diary to me and I do not get to share with people especially my parents, so writing in a book is like writing in a diary and I get to share with the people around me.

“I believe in the power of the pen.

“I was inspired by myself since I am a lonely person, I don’t get to talk to people, even when I am struggling I don’t get to share my problems with my mum or my dad,” said Jadyn.

The first book was based on her own journey as a young lady entering into a different stage in life.

The demand from her readers made her write her second book.

“The first book was about my relationship with my first boyfriend, but I did not really plan to write the second book and the third book.”

She explained: “In my view I think that men must take over the world at some point, but then when they are overpowered they forget about the woman who has been there for him.

“I am excited and happy that I get to share with the people I love.”
