The celebration of Palm Sunday throughout the country yesterday marked the beginning of the Holy Week, leading up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday this week.

Yesterday, churches re-enacted the story of Palm Sunday where the song ‘Hosanna in the Highest’ echoed throughout the country.

Children marched through the streets reminiscent of Jesus Christ's march.

Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent — the beginning of the Holy Week and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ into Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.

During this week, The ‘Holy Thursday’ is the day Jesus washed the feet of disciples, shared in his Last Supper and gave the mandate and command to “Love one another.” (John 13: 34-35)

On Good Friday, we experience the tragedy of the cross and then Sunday to commemorates the Risen Saviour.

At other churches, the palms used on Palm Sunday are burned and used the following year for Ash Wednesday.
