Super 9 action continues

Another week and another exciting schedule of fixtures in the Super 9 Rugby Championships.

Week six of the tournament brings more exciting and entertaining battles between the local franchises of the Super 9 Rugby Championships.

The Warriors team is the only team in the tournament that has not won a game.

Warriors of Palauli, Salega & Asau are travelling to Upolu to counter the Eagles of Tuamasaga region. Eagles recorded their first win last weekend when they defeated Legends at Samusu.

According to Warriors Coach Talimatagi Niu Leleisiuao, his team has learned from the past mistakes.

“Our team is definitely upset and disappointed with our previous results,” he said. “We have had close win games but we couldn’t execute our opportunities. We are still learning and trying our very best to correct our wrongs.”

“The Super 9 Rugby Championships has been tough, all the teams are in good form, and we want to build our team to be able to compete at the same level as other teams. We do not have Manu Samoa representatives in our team, but I know our team will provide Manu Samoa players in the future”

Coach Leleisiuao said they are ready for this weekend.

“Eagles of Tuamasaga region is not a team we just have to come and play, we bring our A game and our best towards this game. They won their previous game and that means something. We need to be at our best.”

The Warriors received sports gear and rugby balls from Eveni Sports Shop.

“This is part of the ongoing partnership of Eveni Sports and Samoa Rugby Union in providing gear for all the Super 9 Franchise teams, as we witnessed today at our shop,” Lotopa Levaula, of Eveni Sports said.

The Warriors are grateful.

The only match of the tournament for Savai’i this weekend sees the Vikings of Fa’asaleleaga Amoa & Itu o Tane hosting the Knights of Faleata region.

Vikings will want to continue their winning momentum from last weekend after they breezed past the Navigators.

The Knights had a bye.

At Sapunaoa Falealili, Southern Tornadoes will be hosting Legends of Aleipata Anoama’a & Atua I Saute.

Apia Park will host another Top of the Table Clash between the two undefeated teams in the competition, the Chiefs and the Eels. The scene is set for last year’s Finalists in the 2016 NPC Final where Aana defeated Apia for the championship.

Now, in a new competition format and structure with new names, the Eels will be out to avenge their loss from last year, while the Chiefs seeks to maintain their dominance and seat on the throne.

This game is shaping to be another blockbuster and could match if not best last week’s enthralling game between the Chiefs and Southern Tornadoes.

Navigators of Safata and Lefaga will be resting this weekend.
