The newly renovated McDonald’s Restaurant in Apia is set to open in October this year.

This was confirmed by the restaurant Owner, Tautolo Agaoleatu Charlie Tautolo, who told the Sunday Samoan the reconstruction work includes existing building and its parking area and upgrading of all restaurant facilities to McDonald’s International Standard of Operations.

A total of 121 customers will be accommodated, with an additional McCafe in the restaurant.

Tautolo said McDonald’s strategic plan is to introduce the new ordering meals system known as “Make-for-you” orders.

“There will be installation of new equipment for the kitchen and it will be a made-for-you on the spot type of restaurant upon completion of the refurbishment. Food is only cooked upon order, allowing customers to receive hot and fresh food every day.”

“It will cater to removing food wastage since McDonald’s outlets are required to dispose of any food not sold within 10 minutes of production.”

Tautolo added during the renovation phase, they opened one side of the restaurant to help employees in need of work to be financially stable so they can support their families.

The Apia restaurant facelift is the beginning of a massive expansion by McDonald’s Samoa, which will include new outlets in Vaitele, the Faleolo International Airport and Salelologa, Savaii, which is estimated to cost more than $5 million tala.

Last Thursday, McDonald’s got naming rights to the 2018 Miss Samoa Pageant in which Tautolo donated $50,000 to the Samoa Events Inc.
