Business System Limited has provided a financial boost of nearly $10,000 for the development of grassroots programmes.

Cricket and National Rugby League in various primary schools in the country are the recipients for a second year.

The sponsorship from B.S.L. includes, prize money, stationery prizes, uniforms and other sports equipment to promote kids to learn a new sport for fun and exercise and also perhaps, for a future career path.

N.R.L. In-Country-Manager, Gabrielle Apelu thanked B.S.L. for their continuous support through the programme that encourages children to be educated and also to be engaged by taking up sports.

“This year, N.R.L. held its annual Short Story Writing Competition and grassroots programme made possible with the help of the Business Systems Ltd.” she said.

“We can’t continue this without their help and I would like to thank them for their support in so many ways.

B.S.L Marketing Manager, Leeroy Feaunati told Samoa Observer that their help for N.R.L. and Samoa Cricket is all about making sure that the young ones will grow up to be very active not only mentally but physically.

And with the high rate of non-communicable diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, kidney failure and cancer to mention a few, B.S.L is all for nurturing fitness and health at a young age.

“For the Cricket grassroots programmes in school, it sees the opportunity through the Super Kids, Super Hit programme as a vehicle to enhance and promote awareness of good eating habits, healthy living and healthy lifestyle especially to the young age group,” Leeroy said.

“As I’ve mentioned earlier, we stepped in to support our children in the hopes they will continue in various sports as well as education.”

The Super Kids Super Hit project is for children age 3 – 14 years old and the programme is to promote healthy eating, active lifestyle and gender equality/inclusiveness to the young ones at the same time providing the opportunity to learn a new sport, have fun and just play cricket.

“For B.S.L. the continuation of this programme is all about knowing that we have something to offer not only for our people but also for the young generation,” said Leeroy.

“Schools have been one of our key customers for the business since the beginning and we feel this initiative is about embracing their support over the years.

“As the saying goes, if we work hand-in-hand in building them today, Samoa will be a better and healthier tomorrow.

“That’s the biggest hope of our crew and the management of the Business Systems Limited.

The programme was run for 12 weeks from mid-February to the end of April 2016 and another 14 weeks from end of May to early August.
