Member of Parliament and Village Council chair for the Vailoa Primary School, Leatinuu Wayne Soóialo, has offered his family home to be used temporarily by the school.  

Early this month a fire ripped through the school building, burning classrooms and school equipment. 

Despite the damage by the fire, the school recently issued a statement, saying it will resume the academic year as planned tomorrow. 

“We may be down because of the destruction of the school building due to the recent fire, but we are definitely not out. Despite the recent misfortune, we intend to start the new year with a positive mind set.” 

“We have reflected on the past year’s challenges and are now making plans to move forward as best as we can. The principal, teachers, parents and the village council will be working closely together to foster success of students.”

The school also encouraged more family engagement in the learning process, saying the involvement of parents and elderly family can contribute to a child’s development. 

“We believe that assistance from the family will complement the role teachers play in school, and in turn will improve student’s morale and hopefully result in greater academic achievements.” 

For all the interested students the registration fees for 2019 is $20 and the building fund is $10 per term. 

The temporary location for the School is at Vailoa Uta and Tuvao, the residence of Nuu Malo; Nuu Falaniko; Nuu Sani and Nuu Ray.
