Whether it be going to church, spending time with family, attending church camp or even just catching up on some rest; everyone has their own way of honoring the love of Jesus and his sacrifice for us all. For the Vaimoso Methodist Church, they sat around a bonfire to discuss, debate and share about what Easter means to each of them on the evening of Good Friday.

Although each person had their own meaning of this profound holy weekend one thing was common and that was the unwavering love of Jesus Christ and that he died on the cross of our sins.

After their time of sharing, they sang songs around the fire armed with a guitar and angelic voices of the church members and then constant prayers led by Pastor Auro Teve.

Fili Auro, who is a member of the church, told the Sunday Samoan that the bonfire gave the youths and the elderly members the opportunity to not only share the goodness of Jesus in their lives but to also help one another with lessons and life tips.

“Some of the youth members were scared to share but as they began talking everything just flowed,” she said.  “They shared how much the Lord has done in their lives and what the sacrifice of Jesus meant to them.

“The senior members of the church gave their own interpretation of Easter before giving life lessons for the younger people.

“Easter is such an important time for us Christians; we received the most beautiful gift of all through the sacrifice of Jesus.” On the agenda yesterday was a hike up Lalovaea followed by a morning service, then the camp had a sports day ending everything with a talent show in the evening.
