“Love can mean many different things but the Christian love that Jesus talked about means treating others with kindness and respect and helping them when they need it.”

That was the spirit behind a donation from Taumeasina Island Resort to a family whose plight for water featured in the Village Voice three weeks ago.

Yesterday, General Manager Nathan Bucknall presented a $3,000 water tank to Timothy Poutoa and his family.

Speaking to the Village Voice, Timothy said whenever they faced heavy rainfall it was always hard finding clean water.

“I don’t know about other families here but my family is always cautious when it comes to consuming water especially when we face bad weather,” he said.

“Knowing the changes in the weather from last week, you can never know if the water is affected. Most of the people in our village are experiencing the same thing as us and we do care about our health.”

He went on to say about the unclean tap water situation that has been there as long as he could remember.

Yesterday, Mr. Bucknall ans his staff delivered a water tank to the family’s home at Salelesi.

“This is not much but we would like to offer help to this family,” said Mr. Bucknall.

“Like I always say I’m a fan of Village Voice, and I read it every day. So whenever I see a person who desperately needs help I try and help them in any way I could.”

“Like Timothy’s plight for clean water, I guess the water tank here could store health and save water for his family.”

Timothy was not at home when the help arrived but his mother, Makelita Niko was in tears.

“If there is any other word aside from Thank You I would say it,” she said.

“This is unexpected and I couldn’t thank you enough for what you’ve done.”

“Especially, it’s just me and my children and this is a very great help.”

“To be honest, we didn’t know Timothy was trying to seek help for our water storage because he is always the one who fetches water.”

“Thank you Mr. Nathan for your help.”

“There are not many of your type of people in this world and you should be very proud of yourself.”

“It was pretty amazing. I’ve never had anything like this happen to our family.”

“This help, I’m going to cherish forever. Thank you to everyone who was part of this help and Lord Bless the helping hands.”
