PR - Samoa’s National Airline - Samoa Airways stands to receive support from the Samoa Chamber of Commerce following a ‘call to support’ the National carrier, from the Government of Samoa.

Samoa Airways has always been a member of the Samoa Chamber of Commerce, and as such, the national airline has access to a range of benefits such as; capacity building training/courses/workshops, access to information and partnership opportunities; the voice to advocate on policy matters affecting its business environment as well as endless networking occasions locally and internationally to name a few.

As part of the Chamber’s support as well as the high interest shown towards the Airline by the Chamber Members, the Chamber of Commerce invited Samoa Airways to its May Members Meeting where the national airline presented on its products and services focussing on specific services and products the private sector will benefit from as customers of Samoa Airways.

The presentation included the development of its flight products such as GDS connections and its freight forwarding services. The product information was distributed further through the membership database.

The private sector as a result; has moved quickly to respond and support the national airline.   Leading the way; one of the largest members; Ah Liki Investment organised its first air freight canned palusami from Apia to Sydney through Samoa Airways.  The air freight was successful and the service will continue.

Ah Liki Investments is also in discussion with Samoa Airways to trial the air freight of fresh produce from Auckland to Apia.  This is a weekly air freight arrangement and if the airline meets all the biosecurity requirements on both ends; this will become a regular freight.  Ah Liki Investments has also formally encouraged all their suppliers and management team to use Samoa Airways when visiting and travelling from Samoa.

Inbound/ outbound tour operators Island Hopper Vacations have also confirmed their support of the national airline and have since booked all their travelling consultants via Samoa Airways and have shared their positive experiences.

A number of businesses have partnered up with Samoa Airways purchasing air tickets and promoting them as prizes for their products and services campaigns.

The Chamber President Jennifer Ula- Fruean said that these are a few of its members’ stories; however she is confident that many other business owners have stepped in to support this important initiative of our government.

Jennifer Ula-Fruean also added that she is excited about the partnership between the Government of Samoa and the Samoa Chamber of Commerce.  She reiterated that the support provided by Chamber is well in line with their vision statement which is to ‘Lead the Empowerment of Business potential growth as a key partner to Samoa’s private sector development.’’

The Samoa Chamber of Commerce is Samoa’s National Private Sector Organization with close to 400 direct members and 3 industry groups representing all sectors of the business community in both Upolu and Savaii.
