Two aspiring Netball umpires have passed their Samoa Centre theory and practical assessment.

Malama Simi Crawley, 19, and Solinu’u Wilson, 20 were assessed by Louise Mataia Milo, Netball Samoa Technical Officials Coordinator, and Angela Jowitt, Taranaki Netball Region/ Netball New Zealand.

Jowitt accessed via live video and worked with Mataia Milo.

The two umpires have had both attended theory classes and practical clinics in the last two years.

They will undergo a vigorous fitness programme and will be tested regularly starting from September.

The next goal for these aspiring umpires is to pass the Samoa/ New Zealand Zone Theory and Practical tests, which will take place next year.

“Netball Samoa congratulates the two umpires for their achievement and continues to encourage other aspiring umpires to persevere in their training. We also encourage the general youth to choose netball umpiring as their sport.”
