The National University of Samoa Foundation had a taste of other cultures during their English night at the university’s fale.

The English night is an annual event at the university where students put on cultural performances and learn other languages.

Eighteen-year-old Francini Lafaele of Vaitele, a first year student at the university, expressed how happy she was to learn about another language.

She was keen to perform as it was her first time to do a different cultural dance.

“This English night is not just about English, but also expressing and learning other foreign languages through our dances.

“We are now practicing our dance performances, and it’s a mixture of Samoan and African culture, just the same as the others.

“It portrays how there are different cultures and that we are able to combine them together,” she added.

Each student’s performance during the event is also assessed and added to their overall university academic record. The event was held on Wednesday night.
