Renovation work on the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S)-owned John Williams building in Apia is ongoing but at a slow pace.

Recent attempts by the Samoa Observer to get an update on the progress of the renovation work and the overall cost of the project has been unsuccessful, with top church hierarchy members not responding to phone calls or emails.

Repeated attempts to get comments from chair of the finance committee, Le Mamea Ropati Mualia and Secretary General Reverend Vavatau Taufao were unsuccessful.

They did not respond to questions sent through email as well as phone calls.

In March this year, the Komiti o Feau Eseese asked the church’s general assembly for an additional $2 million to complete the project—this request was revealed in a copy of a report that was furnished in the 2018 conference.  According to the report released in March by the Komiti o Feau Eseese, the repairs are underway with two different companies contracted to work on the body, the plumbing and the ceiling of the multistory building.

This work was to be funded  with $3 million which was already approved for the renovation.

An elevator servicing company also recommended that the building is fitted with elevators, which will require additional funding by the church.
