The relocation and expansion of Myna’s Supermarket and Bakery at Vailima promises to enhance customers’ experience when they officially open next Wednesday.

The original Myna’s Supermarket and bakery started out on just half an acre almost 14 years ago.

But as the population of Vailima increased and diversified over that time, Papali’i Niko Lee Hang’s family realised that their business had outgrown their space.

Three years ago, they bought the property next to their petrol station after envisioning a bigger and better mart that their customers would find easier to navigate and have a pleasant shopping experience. 

On the 1.25 acres, the new and improved Myna’s Supermarket and Bakery commenced building almost a year ago. 

Assistant General Manager, Sherilee Fabricius, said they encountered many challenges particularly with the weather, sourcing the right building materials and engineers.

But they didn’t want to rush the operation ensuring instead that they create the perfect shopping environment. 

Today, Mrs. Fabricius says they have more room.

And there is more. Their small additional features such as their to-go coffee and home-made pizzas. These are expected to take on a life of their own and be featured more prominently with a comfortable space for their customers.

“This is all for the people, we want them to have more space to walk around and enjoy their time shopping,” she said. 

“Having more space will be more comfortable for our customers. Our stock range is really big now, even with our small shop we had lots of variety but now they will be more visible. We will keep the same lines but add some different brands.”

To add to the enhancement of the customer experience, they have added outdoor tables and seating for their customers’ leisure to wait or use as an dining area.

“We’ve added home-made pizzas and they are getting very popular selling them on Wednesdays and Sundays. Our recipe is different from everyone’s and we use our own bread dough. We will also have soft serve ice creams and more on the coffee menu,” she said.

Most of Myna’s loyal customers have grown accustomed to seeing the two independent vegetable vendors outside the supermarket. 

Mrs. Fabricius says that will not change, in fact they have built a market outside for them to continue that service to their customers.

Mynas Supermarket have a staff of over 30 employees and will also feature an improved butchery room.

The grand launch of the new Mynas Supermarket and Bakery will take place next Wednesday on October with some opening specials.
