Stare down and may the best man win.

These were the words of the President of Samoa Amateur Boxing Association, Fesola’i Vaaiga Tu’igamala, during the Weigh In for the last round of the Vailima Corporate Fight Night Boxing tonight.

The weigh in was at Taumeasina Island Resort yesterday, with the proceedings kicking off at 6pm this evening.

Vailima Breweries is the main sponsor and according to the company’s representative, Seteuati Mau, Vailima was proud to support boxing in Samoa.

“The Vailima is proud to support and fund the promotion of boxing in Samoa, to showcase the talents within the Samoan people as well as have fun.

“Another exciting initiative of the Vailima Breweries sponsoring this event is the drive for healthy living in Samoa through the promotion of tournaments like this.”

Taumeasina Island Resort General Manager, Nathan Bucknall was also excited to play a part in the competition.

“Taumeasina is excited to be part of this great event and looking forward to the fight night tonight.”

The Vailima Corporate Fight Night will be divided into four categories: The Corporate Fight, Business Fight including the fight between Taxi Stands, Hotels vs Hotels and Amateur Boxing.

Fesola’i said another aim of this tournament was to identify amateur fighters for the upcoming Vanuatu Mini Games.

“The tournament here will help in identifying and selecting a team for Samoa to compete at the Pacific Mini Games coming up in Vanuatu later this year.”
