They came to the tomb’ was the theme on Sunday for the celebration of Resurrection Day by the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa.

For Faleata West Sub District (Pulega), a combined service for their nine parishes gave life and meaning to the story of Jesus from His journey to Jerusalem, His crucifixion and His resurrection.

The presentation was carried out by youths and Sunday Schools.

The nine parishes involved were Tulaele, Toāmua, Vaigaga, Vailoa-Tai, Vailoa-Uta, Elise Fou, Petele’ema Fou (Vaitele-Fou), Vaitele-Uta and Nu’u-Fou.

Leading the service was Reverend Letaulau Pesaleli of the C.C.C.S., Nu’u Fou.

Reverend Elder Fa’au’uga Mata’utia thanked each parish for their hard work and for making it all possible for the glory of God.

“Tupulaga Talavou…(youths) these skits that you’ve performed are not just to commemorate the day but to live and walk  it every day no matter where you are,” he said.

“Reflect Jesus in your life whether you are at school, home … remember Him and what He went through for us to be saved,

“God bless you all.”

Biblically, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is important to Christians who consider it the holiest day of the year and celebrate it as a festival and holiday.
