Mother killed, Police caution drivers again

A 51-year-old mother was killed yesterday as a result of a fatal road incident at  Si’usega.

This was confirmed by the Samoa Police Service (S.P.S.) in a statement it issued on its social media page last night.

The Police said a 20-year-old driver has since been charged with negligent driving causing death. 

“This incident occurred at around 12noon today (yesterday. 

“The victim of this tragic accident is a 51-year-old mother who was hit by the truck driven by the suspect at Siusega on Tafaigata road. 

“She was taken to Motootua hospital and was pronounced dead not long after she arrived due to the injuries she has sustained.”

The Police used the opportunity to again call for caution on the road.

“S.P.S. wishes to inform the travelling public to always be vigilant on our roads. This accident could have been avoided. Drivers are urged to follow road rules and designated speed limit to ensure the safety of our pedestrians.

“As we count down the days to the New Year, S.P.S. again emphasises that everyone deserves to celebrate New Year with their families and loved one.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family. Stay safe on our roads Samoa.”
