About Christmas

Re: Christmas editorial

Actually if you knew anything about Christian history you would know that Christmas celebrations have always been about commercialism and not about Jesus. It wasn’t even until the 4th century that some Pope pulled the day out and declared it Jesus’s birthday. All made up.

Scotland completely outlawed Christmas and all the commercialism that goes with it early on, as did other early Christians.

Capitalism and consumerism eventually won out and now we have all festivities that the uninformed like to say is about Jesus. Actually, not so.

I believe the tradition of Christmas trees, not big in Samoa, but huge in North America, was given to us by the Nazis under Hitler. Christmas was always about capitalism.

I actually believe it’s because of these facts that JW and SDA don’t celebrate Christmas at all. They probably don’t know why they don’t though, more likely they just don’t because they are told not to, which would be more typical of why most Christians believe most of the crazy stuff that they believe, especially in Samoa and Utah. Enjoy your myth and happy holidays.
