Pay TV transition on track

PR - Digicel has successfully completed phase 1 of the system upgrades on the 15th June that led to the introduction of the new channels Boomerang, MTV Live, Fight Sports and TVWAN Life.

This also improved the overall picture quality and sound. For the second and final phase of upgrades, all customers will need to perform a 3-step rescan with their remote control on the 29th of June.

This rescan will ensure that customers will be able to receive the Discovery channel from July 1st and that their channel ID’s become aligned immediately after the rescan.

Digicel Samoa C.E.O, Rory Condon said, “We understand that the transition period has been a bumpy road at times, and we’d like to thank customers for their patience. We are now very close to the end of phase 2, there’s just one more re-scan to do and the upgrade will be complete.”

Since Digicel took ownership a mere 12 weeks ago, the focus has been on improving the content and picture quality. Mr Condon was glad to say that the company has made some great strides.

“Now customers can enjoy more of the content that they love: there’s more quality kids entertainment, better movies and last but not least- we’ve now got more access to the wonderful world of rugby” he said.

A step-by-step rescan process has been sent to all customers via email. If customers require further assistance with the rescan, then they are invited to contact Customer Care.

Once the rescan has been performed, the hugely popular Discovery channel will become available on the 1st of July and all channel ID’s will be aligned.
