Lefau Harry Schuster is now one of the three holders of the Faualo title.

The eldest son of Saunoamaalii and Theresa Schuster was bestowed the honor during a colorful and an elaborate ceremony at the Maota i Malaesavasava at Tauese early yesterday morning.

According to Lefau, the Faualo title had been vacant for more than 20 years for their side of the family, the heirs of Lupe and Simona and Faualo Samu.

“Today as you can see it means a lot for our side of the family,” he told the Sunday Samoan yesterday.

“The last person who held the Faualo title passed away in 1995 so we haven’t had had a Faualo for our part of the family in the last 23 years.

“But as you know when something is left for so long eventually it does not seem nice and for our side we had nobody to represent us in the village sittings."

“We were still serving the village, but it’s just that we had no voice in the village because we had no representative.”

Faualo Lefau went on to say there are actually three Faualo within the village.

“Back in the days there was only one person that holds the Faualo title,” he said.

“However, there were some disagreements and the ended up in court so the court ruling states that all three itu paepae (side) should have a Faualo and that’s how it was up until now.

“So our itu paepae chose me to take on the title and today I am blessed to see all my family come together with one heart today to get this over and done with.”

Faualo Lefau went on to say that his immediate focus is to bring his family together. He said he wants peace and unity and ensure their children are successful in life.

“Living together in peace and harmony is the foundation of any family and that’s my calling in my family, to be a servant and a good leader,” he said.

“The most important values we should encourage in any family are for people to live in peace and harmony."

“Another plan is we have to look at our children to ensure they have good education because they are the future of our family."

“So we have to ensure they have better education in that way we provide them with opportunities in the future.”

The blessing of the title was conducted by Reverend Elder Utufia Naseri of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa in Apia.

Faualo Lefau Harry Schuster was a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa and a former member of the Tautua Samoa Party.

He represented the constituency of Vaimauga West in Tuamasaga district on Upolu Island and was first elected to parliament in the 2011 election. He was also a former judge and president of the Federation of Oceania Rugby Union.
