Every Home for Christ Ministry has moved to curb domestic violence by hosting a three-day marriage seminar.

The seminar will be held at the Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi (T.A.T.T.E.) building and starts tomorrow. It is free and open to members of the public.

Every Home for Christ director, Pastor Morgan Gegera, said the significant increase of domestic violence cases is disconcerting which compelled them organise the seminar.

“Domestic violence and spouse abuse is not limited to the people going through the dilemma. This is everyone’s problem and we have to play our part as well."

“The Government, the non-government organisations (N.G.O.) and the churches must take action to address this matter."

“So the seminar will outline the biblical point of view of principles found in the word of God, on marriage, life, family, love and the respect."

“It is our conviction the answers to these problems are found in the word of God. A lot of people attend church, unfortunately most of the perpetrators are church going folks, unless we touch the core of principles in the word of God as pertaining to family, marriage and relationships we will never get anywhere,” he added.

This is the second year that Every Home for Christ Ministry hosting and facilitating such a seminar.

“Samoa is a Christian nation and we very religious and people go to church but it does not mean they don’t have problems at home."

“And it’s after church, when the issue arises within families, with verbal arguments which sometimes lead to physical abuse. Statistics don’t lie."

“This three-day seminar is designed not only to encourage a stronger and healthier marriage but also to prepare our young people in relationships before entering into this lifetime commitment,” he said.

The event will feature Pastor Warren Retzlaff, a renowned International Speaker on family and marriage.

“We believe that strong marriages produce strong families, who will build strong communities and a nation safe and secure for children,” Pastor Gegera added.

Every Home for Christ is an international mission organisation dedicated to the Great Commission and was established in 1946.
