The dangers of technology

Technology impacts on people’s everyday lives.

That was the firm opinion of Tai Tai of Faleula to the Village Voice team.

Tai was spotted when he was on his way to work on Saturday morning.

“The reason I’m saying this is because technology is the present world,” he said.

“Technology has totally attracted the attention of teenagers and young people.”

Tai said technology made the younger generation more greedy, ignorant and lazy.

“I know back in the days many did not have fancy cell phones or high-tech computers, back then it was only those home phones.

“Everyone can go out and do chores and spend time with their families but nowadays it’s all about getting an iPod touch or a phone with a touch screen and sit for almost all day just playing on telephone.

“Soon, people will have chairs that will fly around to tidy up the house so they don’t have to get up and walk.”

Though there seems to be more negative influence of technology.

“As we all know there’s so much hatred on social media because other individuals can now hack into other people’s lives or cyber-bully someone.

“They create fake pages to attack others, and that’s dangerous, they’re putting everyone’s life at risk, not only that, but people have unlimited access to inappropriate content no matter your age.

“When we talk about Facebook, people stay on the computer so they are updated on every single thing that’s happening in other individual’s lives or are posting their daily dramas.

“And drama is already an unnecessary problem in the world and it can now be spread over technology.

Even though there are pros for internet and technology but, Tai believes it must be used wisely.

“It could be useful for people’s lives and it could be used to hurt people’s lives.

“The way technology should be used is as a tool and for helpful reasons, and should not be used for hours of laziness and to destroy other people.”
