Apia village is offering a wide range of sports activities for their young children to participate in at weekends.

Last Saturday, they started a programme called ‘Tinifu o le Vineula’.  Based at their malae, the boys and girls play rugby, small ball games and handball.

“They’re actually enjoying themselves,” said mother and grandmother, Togia Tina Tuiletufuga.

She said that the main reason for the programme is to nurture the children while they’re still young.

“This programme is just getting started and we’re looking forward to continuing it every Saturday,” Togia said.

“These children need to feel this connection in order to be free to play and learn together so when they get older, they’ll understand about relationships with each other.”

“Children want to be around other children and having this opportunity to set up our own programme within our village is really great.”

“Everyone is enjoying these activities, even the parents.”

The programme is for children at primary level.

Togia thanked those who have contributed by providing the children’s sports uniform and equipment.
