Fiji Warriors beat Manuma Samoa 43-18 in the final game of the Pacific Challenge to finish second behind Japan XV in an intensely physical and high-scoring encounter.

Manuma Samoa started strong and took an early lead in the match, thanks to a penalty from scrum-half Afa Moleli.

However, the Fiji Warriors quickly responded, with captain John Muller powering through to score a try in the corner. The try was successfully converted by Pauliasi Korobiau, giving Fiji Warriors a 7-3 lead.

Fiji Warriors continued to dominate the first half, with fly half Netava Saukuru scoring a try just minutes later.

Despite Manuma's efforts to fight back and score, Fiji's strong defence held them off and Fiji's captain was denied a try due to Samoa's pressure from the five-meter line.

Manuma Samoa managed to score off Bitner Tafilis fast legs and captain Ivan Fepuleai scored a try from the scrum on the right side of the field having the points at 13-14, the closest score for the entire game.

Fiji Warriors continued to score, with Sakiusa Vosayaco running straight down the middle and scoring a converted try.

At half-time, Fiji was leading with a score of 26-13.

In the second half, Manuma Samoa started strong again with number eight Malaesaili Elato scoring their only try.

However, a penalty kick from Manuma's mistakes gave the Fiji Warriors more points and they continued to dominate with tries from Aisake Atani and Maika Tuitubou.

Despite several injuries and a red card for Seremaia Komailevuka, the Fiji Warriors remained strong and disallowed any further tries from Manuma Samoa.

The intense match showcased the skills and determination of both teams, as shown by the number of injuries on and off the field scuffles. After being the 10-time champion winners of the Pacific Challenge, the 2024 Fiji Warriors have been succeeded by the Japan XV.
